Native to the Lakhora village in Almora, this yellow chili is a distinct variety found only in this region. Unlike red chilies, Lakhori Mirch has a vibrant yellow color that makes it look like turmeric, but do not be fooled—it packs a serious punch of heat. It is widely used in Kumaoni cuisine because it adds heat without changing the color of the curry (like green vegetables or Kadhi). It is sun-dried on rooftops, creating a beautiful golden mosaic visible from miles away.
